ISSUES
-
We believe ill health and poor uptake of healthcare services in rural and hard to reach communities of Malawi is connected to poverty.
-
According to the National Statistical Office (NSO) report, in 2019- 2020, just over half of the country's population lives in poverty (50.7%).

-
People residing in rural areas are poorer than those in urban areas.
TMF was born because we were tired:
-
Seeing people living with HIV missing their clinic appointments and defaulting from care not because they undervalued healthcare services but rather for lack of transport money to get to an HIV clinic.
-
Seeing expectant mothers failing to receive antenatal care and delivering babies right in their homes for lack of transport money.
-
It was disheartening to see community members in rural and hard to reach areas succumbing to treatable causes because they failed to access healthcare services.
